Alejandro Saldaña Perales
Alejandro Saldaña Perales is trained as an architect, receiving his Bachelor's degree from the Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico. He has a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. His research addresses the design of park landscapes in large-scale private developments in Chicago’s complex urban landscape, advocating for privately developed parks as a positive force amidst urban growth and expansion in an era characterized by local social challenges and global climate threats. Moreover, his work expands towards the relationship between architecture and urban policy, design pedagogy, and design as a community empowerment tool. He has practiced architecture in Mexico and the U.S. and has collaborated in numerous international publications. Recently, he was the recipient of the 2023 Doctoral Research Residency Program at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal.
