Tim Anderson (B.ARCH. ‘79)
Tim Anderson is founder and CEO of Focus, a Chicago based real estate firm established in 1993. An industry visionary dedicated to quality design and craftsmanship, Anderson founded Focus with the goal to create a different kind of development company. His vision emphasizes the importance of company culture and the professional growth of all team members through collaboration and effective communication.
Focus operates an integrated delivery model for development and construction in both urban and suburban settings, and specializes in mixed-use, multifamily, office, and student housing developments. Focus considers the unique needs of each community to drive the design and development of its real estate, respecting the context and culture that was there before we arrived.
Anderson is dedicated to the Chicagoland community. In addition to serving as a board member of the Mies van der Rohe Society, he is on the Lou Malnati’s Cancer Benefit Board, and volunteers with RISE International (which builds schools in rural Angola Africa). He created partnerships between Focus and industry related organizations such as Revolution Workshop and UR Chicago, which provide workforce development for underserved communities on Chicago’s South and West sides. In addition to his philanthropy, Anderson has helped place graduates from UR Chicago on active construction projects.
